Kalhana
Kalhana is one of the most important historians of Kashmir.

- Damodar I, the son of Gonanda, was also killed by Krishna.

Ashoka
Ashoka played a major role in the spread of Buddhism in Kashmir.

- According to Hiuen Tsang, 500 monks came to Kashmir.

Succession
- Ashoka was succeeded by his son Jaluka.
- Jaluka cleared Kashmir from the Mlechhas.
- During Jaluka’s reign, Shaivism flourished.

Kushans
The Kushans made Kashmir an important centre of Buddhism and trade.
Origin
- The Kushans belonged to the Yuechi tribe of Central Asia.

Kanishka

Important note
